What to do with 12 empty stadiums? Read below to find out Brazil’s plans!

Although these massive stadiums cost millions to build, there is no long-term plan of what to do with them now that the World Cup is over.

A few will be remodeled and used during the 2016 Olympics.

As for the others? Axel de Stampa and Sylvain Macaux’s “Casa Futebol” project would turn them into modular housing for Brazil’s poor.

The architects say colorful modular housing units could be installed between the concrete pylons that form the stadiums’ infrastructure.

The units would be stacked around the structures’ perimeters, making use of space that’s currently wasted.

When not in use, they’ll be a welcome green space open to the residents.

Although there are some questions about whether or not the stadiums would be able to handle the extra weight, it’s certainly the best idea for reuse we’ve heard so far.
